Fantastic Moments -- Impressive!!!: ADMU vs DLSU Finals Game 2

February 25, 2012 - A Saturday to Panic. Lower box tickets were SOLD OUT! Unbelievable. Many Ateneans attended this time because they won the 1st Finals game. Well nothing new. So we bought an upper box ticket, oh wait, I think it's not called upper box but bleachers LOLOLOL. Anyway, I came from home and made my way to Katipunan LRT station so that Mico can pass by there and I can ride in his car going to the FilOil Flying V arena. A cheap way to get there haha.

When we got there, where to park is the BIG QUESTION that tackled us. Then we saw a sweet small spot where Mico can park his car. We were just in time for the game BUT NOT for the ticket! At that time, nothing was being sold because they said that all seats are occupied. Well until some minutes of patience (maybe around 30 minutes?), we managed to wait for the next batch of printed tickets but they only offered bleachers area. Better than nothing. So we managed to get inside and find a seat. Not actually a seat because it's already the staircase but it was nice because we were just beside the cheering squad; a perfect spot to cheer our hearts out.

The Lady Eagles were really furious in winning the set as they dominated the first set against the Lady Spikers with a score of 25-23. Of course we felt sad because of this bad start and the scores were so close but somehow I'm happy because I'm cheering also for Fille and Gretchen LOL. During that first set everytime Fille scores, I'm like punching the air so hard because when I shout my heart out, not only my friends will get angry but maybe all of the crowd beside me will be.

The 2nd set came, and still the game was intense but this time the game was in our favor as the DLSU Lady Spikers dominated the Lady Eagles. The crowd went wild and also the cheering squad. When the score reached the 24-19 (in favor of DLSU) mark, Valdez and Fille scored 2 more for the Lady Eagles to pick up the 24-21 score but when it became the DLSU's possession, Cha Cruz finished the set marking the score 1-1.

Then comes the 3rd set, same result but the quest of the Lady Spikers to win this set was more difficult than expected. The set was already in favor of the Lady Eagles as they had their 6 pts advantage on the half score mark. Full burst of emotions and taunting came from our very own Michele Gumabao as she taunted when she blocked Gervacio's blow. In return, Gervacio stared down the receiver when she scored after that block. Also Fille Cainglet and Mika Reyes taunted or rather stared down the opposing blocker as well. This set is priceless; every possession counts. It was already in Ateneo's favor (24-22) when Mika Reyes scored one coming from her very powerful hit of the season. Mika Reyes continued empowering the game by giving 2 more service aces and made the score 25-24 giving them the advantage. Then came Cha Cruz hitting the ball to Denden Lazaro but wasn't able to receive so well giving them a score of 26-24.

The 4th set came and the Lady Eagles are still holding on. Cha Cruz made most of the early points as some of their points came from Michele Gumabao and Mika Reyes' blocking. I'm not quite sure if Ara Galang made a stare down when she got a score but I think if she did, it's superb! As she is a great rookie! That's why she is the rookie of the year haha! Also Abi Maraño taunting as her hit dug into the Ateneo's defense. Another taunt came from Abi Maraño as she blocked along with Michele Gumabao against Gretchen Ho.

The rookie of the year Ara Galang really stepped up in this game because she played alongside with the veterans as if she's already one as her skills can be compared to theirs. Credits should also be given to Mika Esperanza's back sets. Her ability to think that swiftly on whom to give the ball is exceptional. Ara Galang gave the winning blow as Fille Cainglet unable to receive Ara's hit ending the score 25-18.
